Jure Bučević
- Opera & Symphony ConductorInternationally acclaimed Croatian conductor specializing in Italian opera and large-scale vocal-symphonic repertoire.
The conductor once again returned to leading the orchestra from memory and remained, in this extremely joyful and more than folklorically colored Spanish symphonic music, faithful to all the principles of conducting that we had already encountered in the first part of his Maribor appearance. Not only is his conducting vigorous, unexpectedly conditioned by characteristic, proven, and interesting rhythm, but his leadership is evidently a pleasure also for the performers. A kind of firm fluid developed between the audience, the orchestra, and the conductor himself.
The musical part saw conductor Jure Bučević ensure musical accuracy and care for the balance of sound between pit and stage, with praiseworthy variety of forte–piano dynamics where required by the score (a typical example being the strings in ‘Cortigiani, vil razza dannata’).
